Alpacas And Squirrels And Bunnies Oh My!

Well hello dear reader and can I just say you are looking amazing 🙂 its been a busy time as usual at WDS HQ and i have some new makes to show you but first i want to tell you about Ezo Momongas!

My mate Shell is always on top of whats super cute on the interwebs and look what she found…..

These are Ezo Momongas and they are Japanese flying squirrels and for me they were just crying out to be made! so I drew one…..

Hmmm….thats just a flying squirrel and this is when I realised that I have a definite style and always a story that goes with my designs, so here is Eiko…….

IMG_20190221_141235

Eiko, whose name means Crystal child or flower child depending on how its written was born! She is a squirrel superhero and will help people young or old to build confidence with either the power of crystals or flower scents! I shall get cracking on bringing her alive very soon.

A design from the last blog is now a reality! this is Alejandro the alpaca…..

Now I must point out that his baskets are meant for creme eggs or mini eggs- but I ate them! so here he is with some daffodils. This design is CE tested and will be in my my craft shop in the next couple of days.

I also got sidetracked by a wonderful suggestion from another friend Tracy……

This cheeky unicorn decided to get himself a bunny hat (which is removable)! he will also be in the shop and you will be able to order him with a creme egg sized backpack or chocolate scent or both!!

I have put this bluebell themed unicorn in the shop, made to order..

IMG_20190207_104013

This actual unicorn went off to a lady that has had a horrible time of it, I was inspired to gift her in the memory of a lovely young lady called Jenny who passed away. Her mother asks her followers to do a random act of kindness on Jenny’s birthday and to tell the recipient of that kindness that Jenny sent them.

I have also been making a huge order for a fantastic customer and I have made some of these blossom bunnies…

20190220_145855

These are also in the shop to order from a variety of colours!

you can find my shop at http://www.mycrafty.co.uk/shop/while-darcey-sleeps

Finally I am gearing up for an Easter fair run by the marvellous http://www.paperdaisyevents.co.uk  on the 13th April, so that crochet hook of mine should be on fire by the next time we speak!

See you soon

Genuine Calorie Free Chocolate Bunnies!!

Good morning my lovelies! How has 2019 been treating you? I have been super busy with orders which was a nice surprise but I have also been designing and planning out new things to bring you for the whole of the year! lets dive straight in shall we?

I have been designing some flower fairies that I hope will be popular for all sorts of occasions, here are the first two……

This is Amnesia Rose, she is inspired by these gorgeous and quite rare roses…..

She will feature the roses signature colours of pale lilac, coffee and dusty pink, she will have a rose charm and be scented with a traditional tea rose fragrance.

This is Freya Freesia…..

Inspired by the beautifully fragrant flower and this colour palette,…

She will also be scented to match her flower and have a tiny Freesia round her neck.

There will be more of these and I will also be looking at whether these can be CE tested for children under 10.

On to Easter! I shall be bringing back some designs from last year but with some added extras, this girl is coming back….

img_20180216_163929_323

and there will be a sheep and maybe even a chick version, you can also choose to add a flower fragrance or chocolate or fudge..you get the idea!

There will also be lots of these bunnies….

20180223_074228

Again these can be scented or opt for a full CE tested version 🙂

And we have a brand new design………

img_20190130_100041

Meet Alejandro and Angelica Alpaca! they have a jolly saddle bag that will fit two kinder or creme eggs!

And what about the rest of the year?

There will be:

Proper dolls with a ballet theme.

Surfing bunnies

Flower unicorns

Day of the dead girls

and loads more for Christmas!

Finally we have a reward scheme! this will run all year and I will keep track for you

  1. Newsletter subscribers get postage and packing for a £1!
  2. Your second order from me will be reduced by a £1!
  3. your third order will be reduced by £2

Everything Coming up Roses!

Bonjour tout le monde! Now you all know that I am a bag fanatic, I have so many because people are always making lovely new ones! I am equally addicted to shopping bags, I have this Ted Baker one…….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

I have this tribute bag from the Alexander Mcqueen one from the V & A exhibition ……

img_4985.jpg

When I saw these bags from italian brand Kartell, I nearly fainted …….

45340811ht_14_f

How gorgeous is that? but the price tag is also a bit swoon making….£254!

So with my thinking cap on I popped to the retro brand Sunjellies and bought this gorgeous number……..

image-2

Just £17! I then sat down with my trusty Sizzix machine and cut some flower shapes……

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

You can also cut these shapes or similar by hand, just google “felt flower pattern”. I wasn’t keen on the black ones so I ended up with these………

img_1151

Before I got any further I received my inspiration box from Katie at Felted Fancies supplies, behold its loveliness……..

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Inside there was also some felt flowers and of course much nicer than mine so I glued my pink ones and Katie’s flowers straight onto the bag using my hot glue gun….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

I also made some Chrysanthemum ones by folding a strip of felt in half, then cutting vertically every half centimetre almost to the bottom, roll up this strip and you have a flower! after much gluing this is the result……..

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Cute enough but it think it needs something else? my super talented daughter suggested more flowers gradually getting less as we move up the bag. I will be thinking about this alongside some new product development next week and i’ll hopefully post the updated picture next week.

Every Pin You Pin, I’ll Be Watching You!……

Cue sinister good morning, mwah hah, hah! Seriously, do you use Pinterest? I love it, access to all the pretty things in the world at the touch of a button, what not to like? But for me it has a more serious purpose because I analyse what people are pinning of mine and therefore gain an insight into what kinds of things  I should concentrate my design efforts on. Let me demonstrate by showing you my top performing pins.

Number 1 by a long chalk is …….

A very simple design but beautifully executed.

Then we have ……..

Everything Alice in Wonderland does really well to be fair but this outperforms the lot, I think the cuteness ( we will come back to that!) and the pastel colour scheme make it extra special.

Coming in third is this……..

A Blythe doll, I love them and the colour scheme of this photo really appealed to me… And lots of others!

That minty colour comes back in the next pin….

This is a great aspirational image, we want our tables to look like this, we want that crockery and dear lord we want that cake!!!!

The next image is exquisite……

I pin a lot of fairy images ( shocker! ) but this extraordinary doll in its breathtaking surroundings is a hands down winner.

Sometimes a pin is as much about the skill of the photographer as the subject….

The flowers are beautiful but the choice of light background and the exposure used elevate a Ho hum picture to a Wow!

Let’s not forget the huge number of tutorials available……..

I love super talented artists that are generous enough to share a how to with me!

Lastly……..

There is nothing cuter than a deer in a jar!

So, what does this tell us? The person who pins from my boards loves cute, with a bit of an edge and is likely a creative person themselves.

I am unashamedly using this info for some super cute Christmas cards and decorations!

Happy pinning!

Kisses

Ps  there will be no blog next week as its my birthday and we are off to London, the following week will be all about what we got up to and what I bought! See you then xx

Gardening? I Should Coco!

Morning pumpkins! Do you love gardening? I really don’t, it leaves me a bit…meh, I can’t get enthusiastic about growing my own vegetables ( although I do intend to grow some salad items next year), but I do love flowers so I have been giving some thought to what kind of flowers I would like. Of course what I should be doing is looking at the practicality of various varieties, their drought resistance etc, etc but where’s the fun in that? Let’s look at colour! My favourite colours in the entire world are 3 colours associated with the design house of Chanel, here they are……..

So once I had those three colours I headed over to http://www.crocus.co.uk and picked out some plants within those groups, first up the Rouge Noir flowers…..

This is wallflower ” purple shades”.

This is Lillium “Black Beauty”.

This is Tulipa ” black parrot”

The beige shade was tricky but I found these gorgeous creams and ivories ……..

What better way to start the year than with crocosmia ” albus”?

This is Azelea Rhodedendron “daviesii”.

This is Jasmine “Devon cream”

I need just one plant in the white category…….

Perfectly Chanel in every way is the Camellia Japonica “perfection white”

To further satisfy my need for beige I will be planting in beige pots……

These ones are from IKEA .

I’m really excited to get going and will be heading to http://www.crocus.co.uk to do my plant shopping.

Do you love gardening? I’d love to see some pictures!

Have a fantastic week

This Week I’ve Mainly Been …….

Good morning my little cupcakes! If I wrote a piece that fitted the above title it would contain one word….Painting! I’m in my usual mad panic before Lindfield Arts Festival, here’s what I’ve done recently….

This last picture still has some work to do and ideally I would like to do another one, probably a horse but ideally a unicorn!

So what do you do in your spare time when you craft for a living? You do more craft obviously! Here’s a couple of projects I have on the boil currently. Let’s start by talking about one of my heroines -Twinkie Chan……

This is the first book I had by Twinkie and I love it! Full of food related items, I’m sure  I will need this cupcake scarf for dog walking!

It was a no brainier to get her second book….

I will be starting this taco pencil case when the painting frenzy slows.

This next project is what I’m doing this week when I’m not painting…….

Needlepoint is so relaxing and requires very little mental input, don’t ask me where I got this or what it’s called, it’s been sitting unloved in a bag for at least a couple of years!

What do you do in your downtime? I know there’s a lot of creative people that follow this blog!

Have a a superb week,

Kisses
