The One In Which It Was Really Cold!

Good morning cupcakes! well winter has well and truly come to my little corner of Sussex! we have had actual snow – which is a big deal for the south of England, look at my silly poodle pretending to be Scott of the Antarctic…..

Fortunately snow doesn’t stop work as I only have to commute to my armchair 🙂 I painted this commission ……….

It really was such a great exercise as I haven’t done monochrome for ages, I had to buy a lot more shades of black and grey (yes there are different ones!) and found out that Chinese Ink is a lovely warm black which makes for great depth.

I crocheted a herd of these bunnies with their creme egg backpacks…..

These two thought it was a bit too cold to hop to their new homes!

I have lots to make for this great event………

But I am not helping myself by being distracted by things like this……..

This past fashion week Gucci sent their models down the runway with these dragons, it really got me thinking about some pet dragons I could make – maybe pastel, maybe linked to your birthstone? I am going to try and resist the temptation to make some until after my fair.

I had made this Easter Bunny girl for my fair…..

But one of my amazing customers snapped it up! along with this mermaid…..

I have found the only way to keep myself organised with my work schedule is to plan and plan again! and the only way you can keep me interested in planning is if I have amazing stationery! so in the picture you can see my unicorn latte bookmark from my mate Shell at, beautiful stickers from What The Fox Designs (you can find her on and peeking out is my lovely planner from

So enough of this chit chat kittens, you need to go to bed or work or school or whatever awesomeness you are doing and  I had best crack on and make some stuff!

If You Can Dream It Blah, Blah, Blah

Good Morning kitty cats! I’m sure if you have ever been on any social media, you will have seen many inspirational quotes about making your dreams a reality. You know the sort of stuff “dream it, do it” “dream big” etc, etc. But how to turn those wishes in reality? The book “The Secret” was a big proponent of putting out positive thoughts to the universe and then the universe would send it back to you, hmmm, I’m not entirely sure.

I am persuaded by the concept of the wish board, where you pin pictures, quotes or anything that relates to your wishes, I think by doing so you make those wishes more real and then you inevitably take steps to achieve them ( no magic required). Here’s mine…….

So let’s start at the bottom with the rainbow semi circle and go roughly anti clockwise! ….

Wish 1: meditate more, this is a screen shot from the Buddhify app and I need to get back in the habit! It helps me focus and therefore achieve more.

Wish 2: Marks and Spencer’s Hollywood Deco china, just because! It’s the colour of a Laduree shop and therefore belongs in my macaron themed kitchen!

Wish 3: jazzy ankle boots! Now this wish means I will have to lose weight and get on medication that works for my arthritis, so it’s really 3 wishes in one!

Wish 4: Barre fit class, I’m desperate to do one, and again meds will have to change, but who knows if they work I will be buying that tutu.

Wish 5: Gemporia’s bridge rings ( tiny picture) they are a bargain and I would like lots!

Wish 6: Mollie Makes but specifically the cover kit, it is my dream to be the designer of one of those and as soon as I have a suitable design I will be submitting it.

Wish 7: multiple piercing, I want a pretty, teeny extra piercing in my ear.

Wish 8: an old fashioned, velvet button back sofa, this one is from good old Marks and Sparks!

Wish 9: “Meet Etsys Brightest Stars” self explanatory really, I want to be one!

Wish 10: Helen Mirren! No I don’t want to be her, but I would like to grow old in a glamorous way, however more importantly I want to grow old, if you have had cancer you lose your faith in immortality, so I need to get that faith back by taking the very best care of myself.

Writing this post has really focuses my mind and made me realise how much of what I want hinges on me taking care of myself! To that end I undertake to check in on this boards progress in the blog post on 31.12 who knows how far I will get?

Have you got a wish list? I’d love to hear it!

It’s A ‘Poo Takeover

Morning human peeps! our mummy isn’t feeling so great so she has said that we can have her blog today!! Im sure that you know me, I’m Darcey, thats right the famous Darcey that the blog is named after but you might not know this scooby dufus…….

This is Milo my brother from another mother, he’s a toy poodle which is a good name for him as he like a toy!!

Anyway we thought we would give you a quick insight into what we get up to during the day………

We love walks!! can you see me licking my face? its ‘cos daddy had to take this photo and he had to bribe me!! And Milo is doing what he does a lot of, staring into rivers, puddles and mirrors and looking at the poodles that live there! I told you he is a moron!

Made with Repix (

You can’t tell but in this picture but we are waiting for our friends Kira and Talulah to arrive, we love meeting up with our mates!

I promised mummy that I would show you what she’s doing when she’s not moaning about her arfuritis, so here is what she’s doing……

The baby socks are for two new babies, mummy says she needs to get cracking, I’m not sure you want socks that crack!

The two little pictures are of Mollie Makes, the free gift and the bunny bunting that mummy says she might put in the Etsy shop, i don’t know who Mollie she does way more craft than mummy!

The big picture is a real funny one! mummy ordered a kit from Germany to make that stripes hat, she says that her German isn’t quite as good as she thinks, I’m not sure what a German is but it sound like she really needs one!

She also says that she is making slow progress on this picture…..

Made with Repix (

Its my cat sister Millie, I’m afraid that she has gone to heaven so it will be nice to have this on the wall so I can explain cats to Milo.

Oh well i’d better go, the stupid puppy has gone to sleep! look at him the big softie, mummy says that I am tomboy and Milo is a big girl, but I have checked and he is definitely a boy!

Have a lovely week peeps, mummy will be back next week (if we let her!)

Hugs and licks

Darcey and Milo

In And Out Of The Dusty Bluebells

Aaah bluebells, I adore them! I have fond childhood memories of picking huge bunches – it was the seventies! And now I am privileged to live a few hundred yards from some ancient blue bell woods. For me the gradual emergence of the bluebells is like the slow burn of a fire, this morning the first bluebells look a little like smoke hanging over the ground…. image Then they build to an indigo inferno, the smell is so intense it can make you feel slightly dizzy and as we know it’s sends Miss Darcey round the twist! image And then just as quickly as they came, they leave, last year they left me with a palpable sense of loss so I set about trying to replace them! I knitted this amazing pattern from Tiny Owl Knits, so I could wear them! image But that wasn’t enough, I needed the smell of them, I bought two Bluebell perfumes, one was Jo Malones Wild Bluebell… image This is a gorgeous scent with notes of grass and moss as well as the flower, it is £40 for 30 ml. i also bought this one from The Apothecary on Etsy, more floral and a bargain at £4.99… imageIt’s way more floral than the Jo Malone one but very pretty. ( don’t worry no bluebells were harmed in the taking of this photo, because the wood is so close we get ones springing up in our garden). And this year they are inspiring me to paint, I have in mind a series of pictures about a group of tough fairies, these fairies are trying to protect my ancient wood from the slow creep of housing that surrounds them. The first picture is underway…… image It features the Bluebell fairy riding a younger Darcey, holding her bluebell like a flag, patrolling her flowers and protecting them. The next one will be a fairy sleeping with the dormice that live in our wood, however  I am struggling with a name for these fierce fairies, any suggestions? please let me know.

Finally, some writing about my bluebell fire:

There’s a fire starting near my house, the first small blue flames have started and soon it will consume everything around it.

Soon there will be no smell available to you except that of the fire,no colour other than its colour will be visible.

No one will make any effort to stop it even though it will rage for weeks. And when it is time the fire will stop as suddenly as it started and I will weep for its return.
