Cry Freedom!

Oooh baby am I excited! on one of my 5 trillion visits to medical facilities recently I read about the launch of a new make up range from a company called Freedom. This company want to make professional quality make up available to everyone, this means the price point is ridiculously cheap. This really was my invitation to go over to their website and get crazy! heres what I bought……

IMG_3936

I bought this collection of 5 lippies for the princely sum of £5! the colours are lovely, quite sheer but still packing a colour punch. I have super dry lips and found them very moisturising.

Next, an eyeshadow kit……

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

This is the Proshade and Brighten Mattes Kit 1 and it is £2.50, yes you heard me correctly! the colours are soft texture and have a good density of pigment. I just could not get any light for a swatch picture, check out my finished face at the end.

I was getting properly carried away by now and bought a mascara and an eye primer…….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)IMG_3937

The mascara was the pro volume version and did manage to give my lashes some length and volume which with my sparse lashes was a miracle !it was £2.00 and it has stayed all day something more expensive mascaras have failed to do. The primer was fab! it evened out my lids perfectly and kept my eyeshadow where it was meant to be and for £2.50!

Finally I bought a Glamdoll palette in Vintage Doll……

This has everything you could possibly need in a slim palette and they are currently reduced to£6.00!

Heres me wearing the nude eye palette and lipstick from the Bares collection….

So, my verdict is that these are ridiculously cheap products that deliver a quality finish, and most importantly my hyper sensitive skin did not react at all. Head over to http://www.freedoommakeuplondon.com and see what takes your fancy!

The Well Laid Plans Of Mice And Men……

Hello loves, well I had a cast iron plan for this weeks post, I was going to show you my Dolce and Gabbana inspired backpack complete with handmade little flowers, but this week didn’t go according to plan…….it started for me with great excitement, out of nowhere I got asked to write for a new blogging community website! Mytrendingstories.com is gathering together a community of bloggers who write on a wide range of subjects and they want me to join their lifestyle section! To say I’m pleased is an understatement!

Then the news of the Orlando shooting came ( I am writing a separate blog about this), I went to hospital for a bit ( nothing to worry about, just medication related issues) and then the MP Jo Cox was murdered, so I’ve spent the time I should have been creating basically pondering what the hell is going on in the world.

Anyway, here is what progress has been made so far, first I started with this pattern………

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

It’s from Simply Crochet and it really is fantastic, simple and quick to make. However to make it a bit more D and G it needed bling and lots of it, the originals have a mix of small flowers and gems, so I started to gather sparkly bits, first this gorgeous brooch bought for £3 at a boot fair…..

img_3894

Then some glitter and faux leather for the flowers and of course a flower template………………

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

For the little flowers I cut some rose gold faux leather and a similar shade of glitter, I sewed them together with a smokey grey crystal at the centre. I have only managed to complete one and only the base of the backpack but I have set out a few to give you an idea ……………….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Obviously on the finished bag this ornamentation will go on the flap and then I will have to make a decision about straps and fastenings.

So, from now on my regular Saturday blog will be repeated over at Mytrendingstories.com and I will be writing another piece in the middle of the week exclusively for them.

Let’s hope that this week brings less hate and more love, less intolerance and more acceptance, take care of yourselves,

Kisses

Practically Imperfect!

Morning loves! those that know me will tell you I am an all or nothing kind of gal, never reads the instructions, still hasn’t read the manual to her car, and if I can’t do it perfectly the first time, chances are there won’t be a second time! But lately I have been gripped by the need to learn something… I really want to be able to draw Manga which is a Japanese form of comic illustration, and more specifically the kawaii form which is the cutest, so my lovely hubby bought me this book…..

51nOK0c3wTL._SX258_BO1,204,203,200_-2

It is a great book that details the actually quite complex rules to making cute drawings, so I had my first go………

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Hmmmm, drawing was very close to the tutorial but my usual felt tips were no good for the pastel palette used by manga artists.

Second attempt…………

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Ok, now we are talking, these were done with my Inktense pencils, and it was a much better result, although my daughter says the sushi looks like Hitler!

Now carried away with my success, I decided to apply the Kawaii technique to Milo and Darcey……

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

This is a mixed result, I love the Darcey but the placement of ears and eyes have made poor Milo look like a cat/dog hybrid!

I shall keep practicing as I can see that this might be a business oppurtunity for me, as my hands are so bad at the moment, big pictures are proving very tricky but these little folk only take a few minutes.

I would also like to try out Moe, the more detailed, very feminine pictures that most people associate with manga.

In other news I have started my Dolce and Gabbana inspired bag plans, remember this?….

img_3794

I have decide to not make a top handled one like this but a backpack which will be more useful for me and I have ordered this yarn……..

img_3873

I will then make some flowers and hopefully source some sparkles for it!

Is there anything that you feel the need to learn? have you acquired a new skill recently? id love to hear of your successes, have a super week whatever you are up to.

Project Calm Photo Walk

Hello you gorgeous people! I have a visual treat for you today, last week I took delivery of this lovely book-a-zine……….image

It is chock full of things to do that help you relax-not yoga and meditation so much (although they are in there) more about different creative things you can do.

The idea that really resonated with me was a photo walk, documenting a walk that you do everyday or one that is a complete one-off. As I’m still not a 100% I went with my usual dog walk. So, first I gathered my team……..

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Cute! and off we went, I haven’t documented the few meters it takes me to get to the woods, but here is its rather grand gateway………
Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

This is an ancient woodland dating back many hundreds of years, although its being nibbled away by recent building developments I still feel very privileged to have it on my doorstep, so off we go!

First, along the path that runs parallel to the railway….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

At the end of this path is a huge mound that the dogs love to run up and down to give me heart failure……..

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Once my nerves are settled its off across the fields………..

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

At the end of this field is a huge oak tree that must be at least 100 years old (can you see the houses just behind)……..

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Off up the hill to what I thought was a bomb crater but I am reliably informed its earthworks from the 40’s when my house was built, either way it is magical looking as the water is always black looking………

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Needless to say I don’t feel the need to follow the dogs down that hill!

After a few twists and turns we end up here, crossing one of the two main streams……

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

Then the path takes us pass the local school…….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

This primary school really makes the most of their situation and the children attend forest school, have treasure hunts and reading sessions all in the wood.

The dogs make the most of the surroundings and climb the occasional tree……

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

I know I always bug you with the first bluebell sighting, but this path uncovered this beauty……

When all the others are out it scents this part of our walk beautifully.

This next path has my favourite view in any kind of weather…….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

I’m not a church going girl but it always reminds me of walking into a church, something about the light filtering through the trees looks like stained glass to me.

I’m not sure who built this little meeting place but the dogs love it…….

Made with Repix (http://repix.it)

And then its time to head for home, over the second river and up the hill….

I think the picture walk was a great exercise, it helped me focus and decide which things might interest you and in doing so I kind of saw the woods with fresh eyes. I will definitely do another one, maybe in a couple of weeks when I am going to the V and A museum for a sketching class!

Have a fabby week

Kisses
