Picture This……

I run my life on technology, shopping, communicating and working. The most important thing I do is take pictures, when I started this blog I was going to take pictures “properly” on a camera, this has never happened as the pictures I take on my gadgets are of such good quality……..

image

But not only that they are immediately accessible, gone are the days of drawers of photos ( was that just me ?), you can access all those memories at the press of a button.

So join me for a wander through my favourite pictures.

This is Darcey aged just 4 days, I have millions grabbed form her breeders website.

My gorgeous child on holiday at the stunning Lorton House in Dorset, my goodness it was cold!

That same child and my much missed Millie cat, this picture was edited in the app Phototoaster.

I didn’t take this picture, my dad did- it’s my mum and I look at it anytime I feel down. Bless her, the nutter!

Santa’s on bikes, one more reason to love London!

The hysterical nonsense that is Milo!

Finally, my love, more handsome than ever…..image

He is wearing a medal as it was my mums Olympic themed birthday!

So let’s celebrate technology and progress at least until I’m replaced by a robot!

Whats A Girl To Do?

So off to the rheumatologist I went on Friday the thirteenth ( it really should have been a clue) to be told that I had inflammatory arthritis, this would have been bad enough but eighteen months ago I was told that I didn’t have it, even though I had been treated for it, for the preceding 7 years! To add insult to injury I now have to go back on Methotrexate, which is a chemotherapy drug used to treat this type of arthritis!!!l

This should be the moment where I tell you that when life gives you lemons blah, blah, blah- nope we are not doing that, I find a bit of retail therapy and indulgence works better! I know that if I look better, I feel better, so this is what I did ……….

I dyed my hair pink, I’ve wanted to for a long time and even though it’s come out a bit strong, I love it!

I bought new skincare, I went for Lulu’s TimeBomb, this is specifically aimed at anti ageing and giving you a glow, and I also went for some of their hair care to inject some volume into my thin ( soon to be thinner!) hair, it also makes me laugh that the products are given military names…….

Then comes this little beauty…..

This is from a collaboration between Olivia Palermo and Ciate, I love the smouldering colours, here’s a swatch on my fair skin….

But smouldering colours are no good unless there is a great base, so off I went to Clinique for their Even Better foundation…but whoopsie I bought a far too dark shade…..

A Day In The Life Of ? Me!

This blog is frequently read in France and therefore I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to everyone touched by the events of last night xX

I think I have the best job in the world, painting and making pretty things and it would be reasonable to think that I float around all day in a painting smock, but in reality I have to be quite organised so here is my day!

First task of the day is walk the dogs, this is a physical struggle for me but I rely on it to keep my anxiety at bay, and when you have these woods on your doorstep it’s easy to get moving…..

image image

Poor Milo has had his “snip” and has to stay home….

image

Then it’s time for breakfast, up until now this has not been healthy, but I am trying my best to eat better in an effort to reduce my pain levels. So this morning I had a banana and almond butter shake and some chocolate tea…..

image

Its time to do some work! While the dogs sleep I start some painting, i gather all my equipment, paints and iPad………

image image

I can only work for about an hour before stiffness sets in but that’s enough time to get this far……..

image

After a rest it’s housework, and then lunch……

image

It hasnt been this healthy for ages, but this Mexican bowl of quinoa, guacamole, cashew cream and tomatoes it was yum!

Its then time for my second work session and the afternoon is for craft and stock for craft fairs, this afternoon was a glittering session for my Fimo Christmas decorations……

image

When the dogs wake up its back to house work, cooking and playing with these two….

Do you love how proud Milo (on the right) looks?

So how does your day go?

Lewes? It’s A Cracker!!

Around this time of year, you may find that the Sussex town of Lewes will appear on the national news. That’s because it ithe UKs largest Bonfire celebration,  regularly attracting tens of thousands of visitors!

image

It is also a regular on antique programmes like Bargain Hunt, they are usually in the flea market which was unexpectedly closed on our visit……

image

However the Lorenz family went to Lewes last weekend for chocolate! We were off to the marvellous eccentricity that is Bonne Bouche……

image

This is quite literally a chocolate box of a shop, so tiny that three people would fill it, but filled with chocolates that are a cut above the high street. It’s owner Mrs Syrett used to run the chocolate department of Fortnum and Masons and has probably forgotten more about confectionery than her competitors have ever known.

image

She accepts no cards but you are welcome to write a cheque! Sadly, Mrs Syrett lost her husband a few weeks ago, in light of this we didn’t take any photos inside and I stood outside with the dogs while Neil shopped. Being the marvellous woman that she is Mrs Syrett bought me out a whiskey truffle! This is old fashioned quality product delivered with grace and charm. We bought everything from Mojitos to Millionaires Shortbread!

We then had a little walk round soaking up the history of Lewes….

image

Some of the buildings date back to the 1400s….

image

The castle sits quietly behind the high street….

image

The views from the high street are breathtaking……..

image

And as we returned to the car park we discovered this picture, this is Thomas Paine…..

image image

So if are ever in Sussex, have a trip to Lewes and definitely Bonne Bouche, there should have been pictures of the chocolates but we ate them!

Have you got a favourite place to visit? I’d love to know!

kisses
